Author Biography

Monica Lyons grew up in Virginia, with all the advantages her loving Catholic family could offer.  She graduated from Thomas Aquinas College in Southern California with a B.A. in Liberal Arts in 2011.  College is also where she met Joe Lyons, her eventual husband, although they did not marry until 2016.

The range of her work over the years has spanned legal support, mission teaching in Belize, parish secretarial work, and directing a parish atrium with Catechesis of the Good Shepherd.

She has had to confront her OCD many times in these contexts, which has turned out to be a blessing in disguise. God has used these experiences as catalysts for healing, growth in self-mastery, and freedom.

Since she has settled into her vocation as a wife and mother of four, God has brought other OCD Catholics into Monica’s path, making her aware of their need for hope, help and healing. This need was the inspiration for her upcoming book, “The Plans I Have for You: a Catholic Story of OCD, Vocation, and Marriage.”

When she is not sneaking time out of her busy life to write, Monica can be found homeschooling her children, cleaning crayon off the floor, and reading.
